Setup

This page lists everything I use in my day-to-day life as a developer. My personal machine runs Windows, with all my development in WSL, and my work machine is a Mac. If you are inspired to make your own /uses page, consider adding it to uses.tech by Wes Bos!

Personal hardware

Desktop: AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 32 GB of DDR4 RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, running Windows.
Monitors: LG 27GR75Q-B (27-inch, 2560x1440, 165 Hz) and BenQ GW2790QT (27-inch, 2560x1440).
Keyboard: Singa Kohaku in polycarbonate (the Polyhaku) with an aluminium plate, Gateron Cream Soda switches and GMK CYL Hi! Viz (Round 1) keycaps.
Mouse: Keychron M3 Mini Metal Edition.
Stream deck: Elgato Stream Deck Neo.
Webcam: Insta360 Link 2C.
Headphones: Sony WH-1000XM4 with a V-MODA BoomPro X microphone.
Speakers: Inland SK473.
USB switch: UGREEN 25098 USB Sharing Switch (2 computers, 4 ports).
Charger: UGREEN Zapix GaN desktop charger (8 ports, 200 W).

Work hardware

Laptop: 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip, 16 GB of memory and 512 GB of storage.
Monitor: LG 32UN880-B (31.5-inch, 3840x2160).
Keyboard: Swagkeys Eave65 Plus in transparent orange with a polycarbonate plate, HMX Sugar Rush switches and NovelKeys Cherry Industrial Keys.
Mouse: Logitech MX Master 3S.
Webcam: Logitech C920 HD Pro.

Editor

Editor: Zed. I love its agent threads and use them a lot.
Theme: Monokai Pro.
Font: Lilex for code, and CaskaydiaMono Nerd Font in the terminal.

Browser

Chrome: My browser, kept to a single extension.
uBlock Origin Lite: Blocks ads. Any devtools I need are installed per project instead.

Desktop applications

Raycast: A launcher for apps, commands and extensions.
Coding agents: Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode.
Shottr: Mac only. A screenshot and annotation tool.
Canva: When I need to design something quickly!
Discord: My favorite way to interact with tons of communities.
Spotify: Everyone needs some tunes to jam to.
Steam: Windows only. Casual gamer, hit me up for Rocket League!

Command line

Terminal with Starship: The prompt is the same on both machines.
Windows Terminal running bash in WSL.
Ghostty running zsh on macOS.
WSL - Ubuntu: All my development on Windows happens here now.
fzf: A command-line fuzzy finder.
fnm: A fast Node.js version manager.
pnpm: A package manager for Node.js.
lazygit: A terminal UI for git.
gh: GitHub's official command-line tool.
just: A command runner for project tasks.
bat: A cat clone with syntax highlighting and git integration.
